When I was applying for jobs in retail a couple of years back during my first year of university I was always panicking over what to wear when it came to job interviews. I've had interviews for internships, jobs, university all within the fashion industry and thought It was time to share some of my knowledge when it comes to interviews and figuring out what to wear!
When looking for jobs online it's best to sign up to all the correct websites. It helps typing things like 'UK Job Search into google and get the best results. I look online on the retailers websites and see what jobs are available in their careers section and if i'm looking for a part time retail job I went to the nearest shopping centre to where I live and handed out cvs in the local stores.
Tips I'd give for what to wear for a job interview
1 - Dress smart, never wear anything to short and if you're having an interview with a certain brand try and wear the brands product to the interview.
2 - Smart trousers are your new best friend. Every girl has a cream blouse in there wardrobe but when it comes to a fashion interview never wear anything to plain. I love tailored trousers and there's some really gorgeous ones in at Topshop and Missguided at the moment.
3 - Invest in a good pair of shoes. I wear ankle boots to interviews and meetings and they've never let me down. I think with patterned trousers ankle boots are perfect. When it comes to looking for ankle boots I'd recommend River Island and New Look.
4 - Show your personal style. When it comes to interviews especially within the fashion industry it's great to show your own personal style but still look smart. So wear your favourite scarf or necklace, put on your favourite quirky socks with your boots make sure your personal style shines through your outfit.
5 - Wear a tailored/smart jacket. I have a coat which I always wear to interviews as it looks really professional. I think it's great for your wardrobe to have an interview jacket or interview coat and make sure it's versatile so you can wear it with many different outfits!
What do you wear to job interviews? What are your interview tips?
