Although we’ve all been dazzled by the glamorous and extravagant creations on display at the recent fashion shows, the catwalk always seems to suffer a lack of offerings for lazing around the house! So I’ve compiled a quick report on what looks to be the top fashion trends for those wonderful days where we can be at ease and relax at home in our own loungewear.
Stylish loungewear
Although many of us may have been tempted by the dubious delights of the onesie, it now seems that we’ve just about seen the back of this item of clothing!
The highly reliable Stylist magazine has some excellent pointers in lounging alternatives such as cuddly jumpers, luxurious slippers, and who could resist this deluxe wool and cashmere poncho – perfect for those lazy afternoons in front of the television.
And the increasingly influential Not On The High Street retailer is also displaying some great innovations in loungewear. With more ponchos on offer, as well as some luxurious kimonos, it’s all about getting layered up in cool, rich colours and fantastic textures.
Bedtime
On those long and lazy days, the boundary line between bed and sofa can become increasingly blurry. So it’s always a good idea to make sure that your bedwear can be worn around the house too!
ASOS has some great products that range from cute lounge shorts, to a great range of pyjamas that are perfect for roaming around the house.
Many celebrities caused a micro-trend last year by wearing thicker pyjama tops outside of the house, but it’s often best to keep your sleeping materials light this can seriously affect how you sleep. While you’re debating your sleeping outfit, it might be a good time to check out Bedstar to make sure your bed is equally fashionable!
Texture
What is often overlooked in loungewear fashion is the importance of texture. It’s all about staying warm, cosy, and yet not overheating.
Good textures and fabrics to aim for would include cashmere, silk, velvet and satin. But whilst silk pyjamas may feel like the height of luxury, they might not be able to withstand the cooler British nights.
Cashmere is therefore an excellent option for chic loungewear. Whether it be a luxury cashmere jumper, or even just a throw, the best thing about cashmere is the way that you can layer it to great effect.
And when it comes to keeping your feet warm, the slipper is a lifesaver for all of us. Some may opt for the classically understated velvet slipper, whilst others may prefer the stylish sheepskin model. But whatever style you choose, make sure it’s comfortable, warm and you’ll feel so much better from the inside out!
