Over the past year I’ve really fell in love
with beauty blogging. I’ve been lucky enough to try out a lot of products this
past year, but also this seems to be where the rest of my pennies seem to go!
So I’ve looked back through some of my old posts and my make up bag to put
together a post showing you all my favourite products from 2016.
One of my favourite beauty
discoveries of 2016 has definitely been Estee Lauder double wear foundation. This
is my second bottle of this foundation and I absolutely love it! It sits on my
skin perfectly and gives medium/full coverage. I’ve always struggled being a
mixed raced girl to find a good foundation and so I am so glad I’ve discovered
this.
I’ve always been a huge fan of
BareMinerals and these two are my favourite products I’ve tried from the brand.
Complexion Rescue is my go-to product for when I’ve got about 10 minutes to do
my makeup but I still want to look put together. It’s not a foundation it’s
more like a tinted moisturiser but the coverage is still quite high. One of my
favourite concealers is this BareSkin concealer and the coverage this gives is
amazing! I use this under my eyes but also to cover spots. It’s a really
hydrating concealer and appears dewy on the skin and it works perfectly with
the Complexion Rescue.
If there’s one product I couldn’t
be without (makeup wise) on a daily basis, then it’s this concealer from Urban
Decay. I’ve gone through about 3 or 4 of these in the past two years and I
haven’t found a better all round concealer. It’s great for under your eyes,
covering blemishes and sorting out uneven skin tone.
Barry M Glow Bronzer - £5.69
When it comes to bronzer, I’ve never
really fallen in love with a product I’ve tried but I’ve always gone back to
using this glow bronzer from Barry M. I find that this is great for when I want
a light (or heavy) coverage and it matches up well to my skin tone and it’s
under £6 too which doesn’t break the bank.
I need to wash this beauty
blender but it’s also proof that I use this everyday! It’s an absolutely
amazing product for blending in your make-up for a flawless finish. The best
way to use this sponge is to dampen it before using as the sponge expands when
it’s wet to nearly double the size.
I’ve never found a primer that
works as well as this one for keeping my eye shadow in place. I love how a little
of this product goes a really long way and also how easy this is to apply. I’ve
had this about a year now and use it every time I want to create a statement
eye look.
As you can see, I’ve hit pan on
one of these shades in the cocoa blend palette as I have used this so much. I
found that this palette from Zoeva has the perfect mix of colours from mattes
to shimmers and they are all warm toned. I love using the colours freshly
toasted, sweeter end and subtle blend.
Whenever I’ve gone out over the
past year this palette from Charlotte Tilbury (and the Zoeva Cocoa Blend
Palette) have been the first eyeshadow palettes that I’ve turned to. I
absolutely adore this palette from Charlotte Tilbury and it really is worth the
money. I love how on the back of the palette it shows you how to create the
look too. My favourite shade is the top left and bottom left colours but I use
them all to create a gorgeous bronze eye for an evening out.
This highlighter from TheBalm was
my highlighter of choice for 90% of 2016 and I absolutely love it. My first
Mary Lou I bought in 2015 and I used that all up so I had to pick up another.
If you want an affordable drugstore highlighter then this is your go-to. It
gives a gorgeous shimmer to your skin and can be used as an inner corner
highlight for your eyes too! I also use this under my browbone.
If you’re looking for a finishing
spray that doesn’t break the bank, then you need to pick this up when you are
next in Boots. I love using this and have gone through about 3 of these this
past year. I love using the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray but for a
more affordable version I use this.
This is the favourite matte nude
lipstick that I own and I don’t go anywhere without it. It’s a gorgeous brown
too with a hint of pink to it and it lasts so long on my lips. I love wearing
this with a bronze eye look or just on an everyday basis with minimal make-up.
It’s definitely my ‘your lips but better’ colour.
Benefit High Brow Glow Pencil - £17.50
Benefit High Brow Glow Pencil - £17.50
Benefit Ka-Brow in Shade 6 - £18.50
If there is one beauty brand that
knows how to do brows, it’s Benefit. I’ve been so impressed by the brow
products I’ve tried and which one of these three I reach for depends on my
make-up look. At the moment I tend to go for the goof proof pencil for an
everyday look and for an evening look I reach for my Ka-Brow. When I want a
highlight under my brows to look really natural then I use the high brow glow
pencil.
If you’re looking for a quick fix
for your brows and you don’t want to spend over £10, then I’d recommend picking
the brow artist plumper up from L’Oreal. This is the perfect go to brow product
for when you’re on the go.
This mascara is an absolute
dream. Since I’ve tried this I don’t think I’ll ever try any other mascara.
This mascara leaves my lashes looking lengthened and full and so many people
have asked me if I am wearing false lashes when I have just been wearing this!
The only problem with this mascara is it occasionally leaves me with panda eyes
after a long days wear. Would any of you recommend trying the waterproof
version?
First of all, hats off if you’re
read all of this post, it’s taken me over 4 hours to write! I love each and
everyone of these products and they have really made me up my make-up game in
2016. I am so excited for what 2017 brings and also they’ll be a skincare
favourites of 2016 up this week on my blog too!
What are your beauty favourites
from 2016? Do you have any recommendations?
