One of the reasons I knew I’d be with my boyfriend a long
time is when he told me he loved travelling. We’ve been to Greece, Dublin,
Germany, Amsterdam and Barcelona was next on our travelling bucket list as I’ve
always wanted to go. So before I knew it, we’d booked a 4 nights, 3 day break to
go and visit the city and we weren’t disappointed.
El Nacional was literally every Instagram lovers dream; the
photos online don’t do the place justice. Every single corner of the place
looked straight from Pinterest/Instagram, as you can see and we couldn’t resist
stopping here for an Aperol spritz. I wanted to stay here for dinner, but the places
that weren’t as busy were very expensive but I’m glad we stopped there for a
drink! One thing I’d say is that we actually found El Nacional really hard to
find, as it’s not very noticeable from the street.
As you can see, I was SUPER happy to be having an Aperol Spritz after a long day walking around Barcelona!
But if you’re a fan of places which are just generally
beautiful to be inside and look at then you’ll love visiting El Nacional when
you’re in Barcelona.
Ever since I was a young girl I’ve always wanted to go and
visit Park Guell. My parents went to Barcelona together when I was younger and
I was so jealous and I knew I wanted to go with my other half when I was older
(and now I have!) It was a super sunny day (about 25 degrees) and we were just
soaking in the atmosphere and the beauty of the park. We also sat on those
famous mosaic seats as well as went on a visit to Gaudi’s house.
For this day in Barcelona I opted for a jumpsuit as I want
to stay comfortable but still look stylish. I love it when New Look come out
with a good jumpsuit as they seem to last me for years! I wore this with my new
favourite bag from ASOS, but it’s originally Kurt Geiger and my trusty vans
which I can’t seem to be without when I know I’m walking somewhere all day!
As you can see from the photos above it’s such a beautiful
park. We probably spent 3 or 4 hours here so it’s well worth visiting! From
what I can recall, It didn’t cost a lot to go to Gaudi’s house or to get into
the park either.
FC Barcelona Stadium Tour
Now here’s a tip for all you coupled up ladies, if you end
up going to Barcelona and your other half is into football you’ll need to set
some time aside to visit the FC Barcelona stadium. It’s absolutely MASSIVE and
it’s currently getting an extension to fit over 100,000 people, mad eh?! We
probably spent 4 hours (at least) here so make sure you are wearing comfy
clothes.
It’s a little out of the centre of Barcelona so make sure you hop on
the tube as well. I actually really enjoyed the tour (considering I’m not a
huge football fan) and it was really cool to visit one of the most popular (and
famous) stadiums in the world. Also, you’ll probably need to set aside a little
bit of money for this as the tickets are about 40 euros!
Arc de Triomf
Whenever my other half and I have been on a city break we
get the bug to just see the cities history and that was definitely a huge part
of our trip. One of the sites we visited was the Arc De Triomf (which I didn’t
know there was two?!) as I have been to the one in Paris. It’s such a beautiful
landmark and well worth visiting if you’re visiting Barcelona.
Sagrada Familia
I remember learning about the Sagrada Familia in school and
so I was super excited to go and visit it when I was in Barcelona. The queues
to visit here are huge and so we ended up booking online the night before
(which was a godsend!) and we were let in straight away. We spent a fair few
hours here and it was such a beautiful place to visit and learn about the history.
It’s still being built which is mad as Gaudi (the artist) began designing this
in the 1850’s!
It’s due to be finished around 2026 so I would love to go back
and visit to see it in it’s full glory. It’s such a beautiful, historical place
and if you take one thing from reading this post, make sure that when you’re in
Barcelona you NEED to see the Sagrada Familia.
Unfortunately for me and Ben, we were only here for 3 nights so there was not much else we could fit in, but we definitely want to go back and see more (and spend a day shopping in central Barcelona!)
